Hello everyone and Happy New Year! Today’s post is all about winter closet staples. If you are starting off the year by doing a little organizing at home, a good place to start is your clothes closet! I’ve rounded up some essential items for winter you might find are missing in your closet or need replacing.
Winter Coat(s) – I don’t buy a winter coat often. In fact, I just bought this gorgeous Red Coat. My last winter coat purchase was probably ten years ago!! So, I will invest a little more in a quality coat that will hold up for many winter seasons. I like to have two different coat styles in my closet – a Parka or Puffer coat for rain/snow and a dressier coat in a classic style. If I could only buy one, I would purchase a wool coat in a classic style which can be dressed up or down.
I saw this Coat shopping recently. It was beautiful in person – I wish now I had tried it on!
Sweater/Cardigan – You all know that I love Cardigans. If you need another one, now is the time to buy. There are lots of sale as stores will be closing out their winter fashions soon. I also like having a couple of go to sweaters that I can pair with jeans or dress pants. This Cute Sweater comes in a pretty red which is great for Valentine’s Day.
Poncho And/Or Vest – These are great items when the weather is milder, and you don’t want to fuss with a heavy coat. I especially like wearing these items for long car trips. They are also great for errands when you are running in and out of stores.
Tall Boots – A great winter closet staple is a Classic Riding Boot. While over the knee boots are popular, a boot that comes just below the knee has fashion longevity. I like to have several if there is room in the budget in a couple of colors.
Snow Boots – If you live in a snowy climate, these are a definite must have. We do have some snowy winters where I live but haven’t had any snow this year so far. Yet, I have worn these Snow Boots countless times already – just love them! I like to wear them when it is cold and/or rainy. These UGG Boots are also waterproof.
Scarves – If I am going to add an accessory to keep me warm on a really cold day, I will reach for a scarf. I only add gloves and a hat if I’m going to be spending a great deal of time outside. At this time of year, I try to stay indoors at all costs! This Cashmere Scarf is on sale at a great deal!
Lounge Wear – Okay, this is not usually found on a winter closet staples list. Yet, I want to stay inside more when it is cold outside! So, I like to have cozy and comfortable clothes for those wintry days at home. I wear a Barefoot Dreams Sweater out of the house many days, but it is definitely a go to when staying inside. I recently got this Velour Hoodie and love it. I’m tempted to order the Velour Joggers too.
Cozy Slippers – If you are lounging at home, you also need some fun footwear to keep the toes warm. Aren’t these Slippers cute in the leopard print?!
We went home to Cincinnati for Christmas and I could have used a parka for some of our nighttime outdoor activities. My lightweight coat dudn’t Cut it and I felt like a staypuffed marshmallow with all the layers I wore to stay warm. I think i need to invest in warmer duds, but hard to spend the money for one week a year. I like your choices especially the Barefoot Dreams cardi. Have a cozy day!
Thanks Debbie! Yes, I love my Barefoot Dreams cardigan!!
