Since my What to Wear Thanksgiving Day post is so popular right now, I thought I would do another what to wear post today! It’s what to wear for a holiday party. I found so many cute ideas that it was hard to stop at just three looks, but I think you’ll love these!
I’m also surprising myself this season with how much I’m loving plaid. Ha! I am not usually a big plaid fan, but I found a couple of cute plaid items that I want to add to my cart! And even though these plaid items have traditional Christmas colors in them, I can see them being worn well beyond the holiday season.
My first look, however, has no plaid. This look is for a more formal affair or party, and features this gorgeous red dress.
Party Look #1 – Red Dress / Scarf / Gold Earrings / Black Pumps / Neutral Pumps / Clutch in Black or Neutral
While I’m all for a good cocktail dress, I don’t love wearing sleeveless dresses in the winter where I live. And this pretty red dress has sleeves! Plus, it can be dressed up or down with accessories depending on the affair.
Here I kept it simple with shoes and clutches in black or neutral, though you could certainly wear a sandal and add some more sparkle with your jewelry and handbag.
Party Look #2 – Faux Fur Collar Plaid Cape / Sweater / Black Jeans / Boots / Earrings
I found this outfit and the next one at J. Crew Factory – I find such cute clothes there! I just love this plaid cape with a faux fur collar! Plus, it is so reasonably priced along with great reviews. This cape would look great over a dress, jeans, or black pants.
Party Look #3 – Tartan Woven Collar Sweater / Jeans / Ballet Flats or Boots / Earrings in Red or Black
I also fell in love with this cute sweater in this last look. And yes, I would go there and wear the plaid ballet flats. You could also go with black flats or boots.
I chose a light wash jean with this casual party look, because I think it lets the plaid hemline stand out on this cute sweater.
