Even though we are not quite to the end of February, I’m ready for some spring fashion! And today, I have the most wearable spring fashion trends we’ll be seeing in 2023. I would have titled this as wearable spring/summer fashion trends because I don’t think there’s always a lot of trend changes heading into the summer season. And it’s the same way for transitioning from fall to winter. However, I just didn’t include summer in the title since it feels a bit early for that!
While all fashion trends come back around at some point in time or another, there are many that are still going strong from last year. So not to get too repetitive, I don’t feature all of the ones we’ve already been seeing this past year below.
In case you may be wondering, the trends that continue to remain strong (and aren’t featured below) are blazers, straight leg jeans, prominent sleeve details, braid details on sandals, and ruffles. I feel like ruffles are something we always see more of every spring though, just like florals.
So, here are the most wearable fashion trends for this spring.
Lace Cutouts
I am seeing lots of lace and eyelet details on tops for spring in all colors.
Sheer Clothing
On the extreme end of this trend, very sheer tops are featured on the runways. They are unlined and not modest or at all appropriate in my opinion. Thankfully, the tops I’m seeing in stores are much more appropriate and wearable. Most just feature pretty sheer sleeves, and some combine the sheer sleeves with trending lace details.
Bow Details
I included this one even though I think we sometimes see a lot of bow details in certain brands like CeCe. Plus, many tops we’ve bought over the years have those little neckline strings meant to be tied in a bow. However, I think this spring trend will feature much larger bow detailing.
Statement Stripes
Okay, yes, stripes are pretty classic. And I’ve seen the stripe trend pop up countless times over the years whether for fall or spring. This spring, stripes are making a bigger and bolder statement though. You especially see them on the oversized shirts I talk about below.
Oversize Button Up Shirts
This is one trend that did actually start last year too and is gaining momentum this spring. If you don’t love the oversize fit, I do see just as many button up shirts that are more fitted as well.
Cargo Pants
Cargo pants or cargo pockets are making a comeback this year. I haven’t found many options to shop for yet, but it’s still early in the year.
Baggy/Wide Leg Jeans
Ah, I can’t keep up with all the jean styles! However, the pendulum keeps swinging towards wider and wider legs. In fact, I saw one description saying jeans will keep getting baggier – think baggy boyfriend jean styles. As a petite, I’m not as fond of the look. The good news is you can look stylish wearing anything from a slim straight leg up to a wide leg jean. So, we have options.
The one jean style that’s not considered as up to date now is really tight legging jeans, though I must admit I’ve held on to a few of mine.
I also heard lots of distressing on your jeans is on the way out too.
Ballet Flats
This is another style that was said to be making it’s way back last fall. We shall see if it gains more popularity this year. If you love your loafers, don’t fear! They seem to be still very popular too.
Big Bags
Bigger handbags are coming back in style. Smaller styles have been trending for awhile, so it’s not too surprising that a shift is coming.
Bigger Jewelry/Cuff Bracelets
Supposedly, big statement jewelry pieces will be returning. Thick bold bracelets that spiral all the way up the arm are trending on the runways. So if you want to be fashion forward this spring, just add a pretty bold cuff bracelet to your outfit.
Dressed in Faith
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
