I try to do a post each spring and fall on the latest fashion trends. I enjoy seeing what’s new and adding some to my closet. Yet, there are always a few trends that seem just unwearable and sometimes shocking! While I have talked about some of the shocking ones in the past, I’ve decided going forward that I just want to focus here on the blog on the trends that are actually wearable for most of us.
That doesn’t mean we can’t be a little or a lot fashion forward if we want. I also don’t want to give the impression that we shouldn’t keep our wardrobes fresh and modern either. I guess as I’ve gotten older I’ve personally started to focus on trends a little less.
Plus, many trends in fashion tend to repeat themselves decade after decade. I generally know what works, what doesn’t, what I like, and what I feel comfortable wearing. How about you?
Have y’all seen the debate lately between gen z and millennials over side parts in hair and skinny jeans being out of style? According to generation z, you should now part your hair down the middle and wear baggy jeans to be stylish.
Well, I guess all of us who lived in the 70’s were ahead of our time! Haha! But yes, relaxed jean styles have been trying to make comeback for the last several years. Now, let’s talk about some of the more wearable spring fashion trends.
Sleeve Details
If you caught my last post, it was all about puff sleeves trending for spring. As I shopped around for this post I noticed all kinds of different sleeve details in spring tops.
Over Sized Button Down Shirt
The classic and chic white button down shirt is trending for spring. A lot of styles seem to be oversized, relaxed, or loose fitting. Maybe, that comes from getting so comfortable in our sweats at home for the last year?!
However, you don’t have to wear your button down shirt oversized or in only white. I’m seeing a lot in pretty pastel colors and floral prints.
Rising Hemlines
I saw one place where hemlines are going to be on the rise. Of course, that doesn’t mean I’m going to be wearing extremely short skirts or shorts! As far as wearable trends go, it just may mean we’ll see less maxi skirts.
The jury is still out on this one though, because I’m seeing all kinds of lengths in dresses and skirts right now. I have some pretty ones linked below, and frankly, I like having different hemline choices.
Relaxed Jeans & Pants
Some women are really excited about the straighter style jeans trend, and some are not. I wear jeans most of the time and have gotten used to my skinnies. So, I am going to have to adjust to this trend.
I Just ordered these straight white jeans to try. I’m tempted to order these cropped white jeans that look more fitted through the the hips and thighs but flare out at the bottom.
I actually have an older pair of boot cut style jeans that are way too long on me, and I want to cut them to give them that trendy cropped flare look. The problem is they are a little tight in the waist! I’m hoping to fit back into them before that style disappears – lol.
Braid Details & Comfort Sandals
Early signs indicate loafers and mules are still popular shoe styles. That is not surprising since they are good transition shoes for spring. Slides are also emerging on websites as still a popular sandal style.
I see many slides with cute braided straps too! Also, embellishments on sandals will be trendy.
Comfort shoes like Birkenstocks will be popular. Fashion sneakers in white are also sticking around.
Slouchy Handbags
If you are looking for a new handbag for spring, structured bags are giving way to slouchy styles. I bought an inexpensive slouchy handbag last year thinking that it wasn’t really a modern look. I didn’t realize at the time I was ahead of the game!
Big handbags are also coming back in style. While most women can carry an oversized bag, I just cannot. It just overwhelms my short frame. It’s a good thing I don’t carry a lot of stuff!
Bigger Sized Jewelry
For some time, the trend in jewelry has been smaller, dainty pieces. Apparently that is going to change. Layered necklaces are still popular, but chains are getting bigger and bolder!
What styles are you looking forward to wearing this spring?
The changes you have made and are continuing to make here on the blog are fabulous! Everything is really easy to find. This particular post was particularly helpful for me. Your personality really shines through everything you do.
Thank you so much Patty!! That means so much to me as I have been working really hard since the beginning of the year to update my site, make it easy to use, and helpful to all of you!
