Today’s post is a fun one as I’m sharing the most wearable fall fashion trends of 2022. I try to feature the latest trends for fall that are practical for everyday yet chic too. Please don’t think you must wear every single trend of the season though. I certainly don’t! Instead, pick a few trending styles you love and that will look good with your own style aesthetic to keep your wardrobe looking fresh and updated.
Before I did some serious sleuthing for this post, I felt this year’s fall season would mostly have a 70’s vibe. While we are seeing a lot of that in pants, jeans, and shoe styles that are reminiscent of the 70’s (and also the early 00’s), there are also some preppy styles reminiscent of the 80’s showing up this season too.
Blazers and suiting, polo shirts, loafers that make a statement, structured sleeves, and puffy sleeves are some of the preppy trends out there.
So between these two eras, there should be something that appeals to everyone.
Wide Leg Jeans
Wide leg jeans are a major style trend for fall. Maybe it’s just me, but jean styles seem to be changing at an ever increasing rate! I was just getting used to wearing a classic straight silhouette again!
The good news is straight styles are still very popular and will always be a classic look. If you aren’t sure about the really wide leg jeans, bootcut styles and flare jeans that are slimmer through the hips and thighs but flare out from the knee down are also popular this season.
Also, not all wide leg jeans are made the same. These super wide jeans have a 28″ leg opening compared to these jeans that have a 21″ leg opening and these wide leg jeans that have a 18″ leg opening.
Trouser Pants
As jean legs are getting wider, pants legs are too. Trouser pants are another wearable fall fashion trend for 2022. For those who work in an office setting or teach, these might be a comfortable addition to your wardrobe.
Sweater Vests
Another big style for fall is the sweater vest. Wear it alone while it’s still warm, and layer it over a button down shirt when it gets cooler. Button down shirts have also been popular the last several seasons and will continue to be this fall.
Blazers
Blazers are not a new to the scene this fall, but their popularity strongly continues this season. Wearing one a bit oversized and boxy seems to be the most fashion forward way to style a blazer this fall. However, don’t feel like you have to wear it this way.
I actually never thought a blazer was something that looked great on me until I tried this notch collar one. And I love wearing it casually. It is a great blazer for just under $100, comes in lots of colors, and washes well in the washing machine. This double breasted blazer from Gibson also looks great too.
Bomber Jackets
Another classic jacket that’s trending for fall is the bomber jacket.
Clogs
I’ve been hearing that clogs are coming back for several years now, and here they are. You can find ones that look more like a bootie, look more preppy, have higher heels, lower heels, or no heel. I’m also seeing styles that have a heel strap for keeping your foot securely in place.
As a young mom, I wore clogs all the time with bootcut jeans back in the early 2000’s. I even still have a pair or two from then that I may pull out to wear. My favorite brand of clogs has always be Born – their clogs are classic and super comfortable.
Chunky Loafers
Last year, we saw lug sole boots as a fall trend, and they are not going anywhere this year. Now, we are seeing chunky lug sole loafers. In fact, you’ll be seeing a lot of chunky heels and platform heels on different styles of shoes.
Ballet Flats
While not as popular as the chunky heel styles right now, ballet flats are supposedly coming back. I’ve always loved a ballet flat for in between seasons and am all for seeing more of this style again.
Western Style Boots
While I don’t see a ton of western style boot choices out there in department stores yet, this is also another fall and winter trend in footwear.
Tending Fall Colors
I’ve read several places that bold colors will be bigger than neutrals in fashion this fall. However, camel seems to be the neutral to have in your closet.
And the most popular color for fall? Hot pink. Yep, you heard that right! Add a little hot pink to your fall wardrobe.
Dressed in Faith
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
