We are headed into some much cooler weather this week! So, I will be getting out this classic poncho that I got last fall. I absolutely love it, and apparently, it has many fans. So, I was so glad to see Macy’s has restocked it for another fall season!
This poncho comes in some great neutral colors! I’m wearing the beige marl color, but I also really like the gull marl color too.

Sometimes, it’s hard to know what to wear under a poncho. I like to just do a simple light to medium weight long sleeve tee. I still get awful hot flashes, so I don’t want something too heavy even if it’s cold.
Above, I wore a pale pink with it. Of course, a classic white top always looks good. Below, I’m wearing it with stripes.

Depending on how roomy the poncho is, you could layer a thin sweater underneath. Also depending on the neckline of the poncho, a turtleneck or cowl neck top pairs well with it too. Karen Scott also makes this cute ruffle poncho which would work for a turtleneck. Besides neutrals, the ruffle poncho comes in some very vibrant color options!
Speaking of hot flashes earlier, I am still having so much trouble with them! I’ve had a lot of sleepless nights lately and have gotten run down. So now, I am feeling under the weather. I can’t tell if it is an allergy flare up or a cold.
While a lot of side effects have gone away after going off the medication they recommend taking for so many years after having breast cancer, I’m sad to say I think I’m stuck with sweating for the rest of my life. These things are just not slowing down or going away!
Anyway, we all struggle with something but having a good attitude is important. It’s something I want to work on improving.
Hi Dianna! Do you feel that a poncho adds too much bulk? I love the look, but have never actually worn one. You mention having such severe hot flashes. Natural Woman Progesterone Cream has really, really helped me. It is a natural product that can be purchased from Natural Grocers or online. I have used it for 20 years. It is just a part of my dressing routine. As with all natural items, it takes a couple weeks for one to begin noticing a change. One tub of cream usually last 6 months. Rub about 1/8-1/4 tsp on your wrist daily.
I’ve never felt that this poncho added too much bulk. I think it’s important with anything to get the correct size. Also, we should take our body shape into consideration as to what works best. This poncho does come in petite, regular, and plus sizing – I’ve seen ladies different shapes and sizes look great in a poncho! As for the hot flashes, thanks for the info! This may be something that is helpful to someone else who may be reading. Unfortunately, my breast cancer was estrogen and progesterone positive which means both played a part in growing my tumor. Therefore, I cannot take any hormones.
