Hello and welcome back to Dressed in Faith! I’ve been busy shopping for spring clothes and wanted to share a spring try-on session today with what I’ve ordered so far. All of the items I’m featuring today come from Nordstrom except for one – and I wanted to go ahead and share that item too. It’s so good!
I found some great pieces that fit well, but I also found some pieces that didn’t fit so great! However, I’m sharing it all! While some of the things didn’t work out for me, they might work for you if you’re shopping. I’ll give fit tips as we go along to help you decide.
I am mainly featuring tops today and a great blazer – the new piece that didn’t come from Nordstrom. I’m also wearing these jeans that were already in my closet and these earrings. I did get the shoes I’m wearing for this spring try-on post from Nordstrom last year. I am happy to report they are fully stocked again in the tan suede which is a great neutral color for spring.
Oh yeah, I also apologize for some of my blown out looking pictures. The sun kept peeking in and out of the clouds the day I took my photos.
I already have one white t-shirt in my closet and wanted another one since it’s something I wear quite a bit in the spring and summer. So, I tried this Treasure & Bond t-shirt with the fun rounded twist neckline. I like it as it’s thinner than the white tee I already have. I think it will be good to wear casually with shorts on really hot days.
This tee comes in black and grey too. It’s pretty long on me, so I will always tuck it in my jeans or shorts. I got my usual size – medium. It is slightly oversized besides the length for me, but I don’t mind that. I don’t know how well it will hold up but it is on sale right now. And I typically don’t like to spend very much on simple tees like this anyway. I find most tees, even the more expensive ones, aren’t made to last very long.
Notch Collar Blazer – so versatile and comes in lots of colors
While this blazer didn’t come from Nordstrom, I wanted to go ahead and share it anyway. I love this one! It comes in an array of colors and mine is the smoke pink. I am going to have so much fun styling this blazer this spring whether dressing it up or wearing it casually.
This blazer is a really nice thick knit material and fully lined. I love how it looks with the sleeves rolled up when wearing it with jeans. Of course, you can wear the sleeves rolled down to full length too.
I also have to mention that this blazer is probably the best one I’ve found to accommodate a larger chest size as well. I went with a size large like I do in most jackets due to that very reason. Plus, I like to have a little room for blouses and thin sweaters underneath. I can button this blazer but highly doubt I ever will.
Anyway, I can’t say enough good things about this piece! It’s great for the office, church, and any weekend activity where you need a jacket and want to look polished!
Ruffle Sleeve Split Neck Blouse – comes in many colors
I wanted to love this ruffle sleeve split neck blouse in this pretty lilac color, but it’s just a little too tight across my chest. I am wearing a size small in this one, because I thought it would be more loose and flowy fitting. Looking at the pictures, I would say it fits me everywhere else so sizing up to a medium may not work.
This is a problem I’ve always had with tops. I often waffle between size medium and small depending on the fit. Many of you who follow me may already know I did have breast cancer back in my mid forties. I had a mastectomy on one side with reconstruction and surgeries on both sides. I actually went down in size a little bit and sometimes wish now I had gone even smaller for this very reason – ha!
If you are not heavy chested, this is a beautiful spring blouse. I will caution you, though, that the split neckline only has two buttons. I would have personally liked a third button, but you could pin it if you find it a little low cut.
Here’s another shirt I ordered that did not work at all for me. Same old story here – it’s just way too tight across my chest. I’m wearing my usual medium in this classic button down shirt. It also ran tight around my waist too. I’m really sucking in my tummy here – hehe. Plus, you should have seen all the pictures I took of this one trying to get just a picture or two that wasn’t embarrassing to post here – oh my!
While it didn’t work for me, this shirt actually has a little stretch to it and is well made. It’s also very long on my 5’2″ frame. I think it could work for someone who is tall and slender.
Typically, I steer away from shirts like this. Yet, I love the look of a classic white button down shirt with jeans and loafers for spring. So, I may keep looking.
I love this next blouse for spring and am wearing a small, but unfortunately, it’s sold out at Nordstrom now. I’ve linked some similar blouses below. This Vince Camuto blouse is similar and marked down. This blouse has the same pattern but with a keyhole neckline.
Ruffle Tie Neck Top – comes in lots of solid colors / Same Top in Print Patterns
Last, this sweet top is my favorite of the bunch! I actually have this same top in a black and white floral pattern I got last fall. I try to stay away from buying the same top in different colors, but this one just fits so well! This top will pair nicely with shorts, pants, and skirts. I love the sleeves with the understated ruffle detail too. Plus, it’s sometimes hard to find tops with sleeves for those overly airconditioned venues once summer arrives.
