Today, I talking about spring fashion trends. It feels like it will be forever before spring actually arrives, and we can actually wear spring fashions. Yet, the fashion world stays one season ahead. I’m already seeing bloggers and stores starting to show some spring clothing. I’m not a fan of winter weather either, so the sooner I can trade my heavy coats for warm weather wear the better!
A few of these trends are a little unusual this year, but there are always some that seem that way with each season. It is always interesting to see which trends are actually embraced and make their way into everyday wardrobes!
Utility Suits – Last year, jumpsuits were very popular. I really wanted to try a jumpsuit but just didn’t. While they are cute, I am not a fan of having to pull the whole thing down when I need use the restroom. This year, the jumpsuit has taken on a new look – more of a Utility Suit. It is a little less feminine looking and more casual. What do you think about this one?
Biker Shorts – I actually have an old pair of biker shorts that I used for riding a bike. I never wanted to go anywhere but the bike trail in them though! I don’t really care for this one. Maybe, a longer skinny short (kind of like skinny jeans) is okay. In my graphic, Biker Shorts are dressed up with a blazer which leads to the next trend.
Blazers/Suits – Blazers have been trending for a while. They really are a classic piece and not just for work environments. Here is a pretty Pink One for spring.
Animal Prints – I’ve already hinted in previous posts that the animal print trend will carry into spring. Again, this is another classic element you can add to an outfit most any time of year. This Loft Animal Print Top is cute!
Crochet – I’ve seen this one pop up a lot other spring trends posts but haven’t found a lot of it in clothing yet. Here is a Loft Romper that has some crochet. I am finding Handbags and Shoes that are crochet.
Matching Clothing – I’ve seen some predictions toward more outfits where everything matches – same color or same pattern for both your top, bottom, and shoes. I have to admit I often want to match my shoes, accessories, or handbags to the colors of my outfit. I had just gotten better about not doing that so much! Now, are we going back the opposite direction?!
Smaller Handbags – Of course, handbags are popular in all shapes and sizes, though I think bigger bags have been in favor the last few years. It looks like smaller handbags are coming to the forefront this spring – called mini bags or micro bags. I love this Mini Handbag and this One. Oh, isn’t this One cute!
I certainly don’t mind if smaller bags become more fashionable, because huge handbags tend to overwhelm my short frame. I’m not a handbag kind of gal and have always carried smaller ones. I tried a bigger one last year, and it just looks so out of proportion to the rest of me. Maybe, I am just not used to it. For any of you petite gals out there who love handbags, do you carry the big ones or go for something smaller?
Yellow, Coral, Green – Coral is supposed to be the color for 2019, but yellow seems to be the color I’m seeing for spring. Here is a pretty Yellow Floral Dress and Yellow Top. I’m also seeing lots of green which is one of my favorites! I love this Ann Taylor Sweater and Trench Coat in green. This Ann Taylor Cardigan in green is under $40 – a great piece for spring!
I’ve also seen Puff Shoulders (pretty on this chambray top), Neon Colors, Fringe (cute fringe dress), and Bucket Hats trending for spring too.
What do you think about these? There are a few I just can’t get on board with this year! While trends are fun to watch, I try to incorporate into my wardrobe only those I really like and that flatter my body type.
