Hello! I’m back today wearing another great pair of shorts for women over 40 or any age for that matter! I’ve had to about completely update my shorts wardrobe this year, and shorts are mostly what I wear during the dog days of summer. So, I’ve been searching lots of options. As I said in my last post, most I like come from White House Black Market.
These 5-inch distressed mid-rise denim shorts are perfection! They are flattering while having just the right amount of stretch that makes movement comfortable. I know distressing on jeans and jean shorts is a highly personal preference. I don’t mind a distressed look. I especially like when it’s done with the intention of not being see through like with these shorts.
A 4-inch or 5-inch length is pretty ideal for me in shorts. I do occasionally wear 3 to 3 1/2-inch short at home or when I’m out in the heat doing something active. Being petite, I steer away from Bermuda shorts since they are not as flattering on me.
If you like denim Bermuda shorts, White House Black Market does have a couple of options here and here.
Another casual distressed option without the whiskering effect that is on mine, are these soft denim shorts.
If you like something without distressing, I also considered this 5-inch pair. They have a darker wash and would look good dressed up this summer.
You can still find my lilac top in a few few sizes like medium and small. It’s such a pretty summer top to dress up or down. These cute sandals are also still available in a few sizes as well.
I got a few comments on my last post about having fair skin and self tanning. Y’all are very sweet! I appreciate your kind comments.
I think you can actually see in this set of pictures where I did applied the tanning lotion that day! It’s amazing what different outdoor lighting conditions and photo edits can do to the look of your skin tone too.
Anyway, I’m not sure if applying self tanner is another thing I want to add to an already long routine of getting ready for the day. Ha! And I want you to know if you use self tanner and love it, that’s great! I certainly would never bash anyone who does. I think we should each do what makes us feel great and comfortable. I just wanted to say for those of us who are fair-skinned and don’t choose to tan, that’s okay and just as lovely too!
