Have any of you set some health goals for 2020? If you have, I hope you are still going strong and haven’t given up pursuing your goals as we get into the month of February! As for me, I’m trying to really focus in on consistency each day in in 3 key areas of my lifestyle that impact my health.
Exercise
The first one I want to try to be consistent with most days is exercise. I feel 100% better when I’m exercising consistently.
Thankfully, this one comes pretty easy to me since I built the habit of exercising into my routine a long time ago. Don’t get me wrong though, I am not perfect at doing it every single day or even missing a week here and there. In fact, I really struggled with it in 2019!
Plus, it is really hard to keep going sometimes when you don’t see results right away. For whatever reason, it usually takes me a good amount of time of consistent physical effort to see visual results. I usually feel much better before I see inches gone, pounds lost, or noticeable muscle tone. So, I try to focus more on all the facts about the health benefits of exercise like having a healthy heart, relieving stress, and disease prevention.
Another thing I hear a lot of women say is that having cute workout clothes motivates them to keep working out. I would have to add that having comfortable and supportive workout attire is also key for me. I like my workout clothing to keep me cool and move seamlessly with my movements too.
If you need or prefer to wear leggings, these Reebok leggings are very similar to the ones I’m wearing here today. I have had mine for years – they are very durable. Typically, I like to work out in shorts even in the winter since I exercise indoors. I love these shorts with the built-in liner. If you prefer a short without the liner, I hear over and over how much ladies like wearing these undies for working out.
I purchased some Saucony shoes (very similar pair here) last fall for wearing on casual days with my athleisure wear outfits. This is a new to me brand, and I really like them. The footbed is made of a cushiony foam that is so comfortable!
Just recently, I was in need of a new pair of shoes for exercising. My current workout shoes were so worn they were starting to hurt my feet. I looked and looked but could not find any I liked! I usually keep a separate pair of athletic shoes that I only wear for working out. So, I decided to try the Saucony pair above for that purpose. They have been great so far and very supportive.
Eating Habits
The next thing I need to do a better job with this year is find some consistency in is my eating habits. Working at home, it is so easy for me to lose track of time which leads me to eat at weird hours or just skip meals altogether. I feel like it is starting to take an unhealthy toll on my body, and I don’t feel I have enough energy sometimes to get through the day.
For the most part, I have made a lot of small changes over the years towards better eating habits. I cut out drinking sugary sodas a long time ago. Then, I started really checking sodium amounts in the foods I buy and stopped adding salt when cooking. Recently, I’ve started following more of a Mediterranean Diet plan when cooking.
Over the course of the next few months, I want to get on track with eating at regular times each day.
Cleaning Schedule
Okay, I bet you never expected this heading on a health goals list! Haha! Even though my house is not always clean, my house is not so dirty that it is literally making me unhealthy or sick! Yet, I do want to do is a better job of keeping it organized and tidy. It definitely affects my mental health when I’m trying to function in a chaotic environment.
I’ve tried over the years to designate days for only blogging and days for only cleaning, but it is not working out so well. So, I am going to try a cleaning routine I found on the Clean Mamma blog where I try to assign a cleaning chore to each day.
I also think this will be beneficial to keep me more active each day beyond daily exercise. This may be my hardest goal. While I like a clean house, I don’t love the process.

So ladies, what are you working towards this year? Also if you have any helpful tips in any of these areas that are working for you, let me know!
Exercises, eating and cleaning. Thank you, these are my 3 areas to work on. I look forward to reading more about them.
Yes! I really need to get bury with the cleaning goal. LOL
I was planning on trying to get more physically fit, but then vertigo reared it’s ugly head. PT in the pool has stopped for now until I can get this figured out. Eating properly was also one of my goals. Our 40 year anniversary is next year and I am hoping to look and feel much better. Best to you!
Oh no! I hope you get it figured out soon! I have been there recently with physical ailments too.
