It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Life Lately post. So, I thought I would chat with you today about one fun thing I did over the summer. First, where did the summer go?! I know it sounds so cliché, but I am constantly amazed by how fast time goes by the older I get! Actually, June was wasn’t too fast-paced. Then, July became much busier. I feel like we skipped the month of August in a time machine! Haha!
Now, we are into a our first week of fall, and I actually don’t mind that this year. In fact, I’m looking forward to fall! Normally, I would be mourning the end of summer which is my favorite season.
One thing we did the end of August that was really fun was go trout fishing in Arkansas. My husband and I did that a couple of summers ago. We knew if we ever went back that we needed to take our oldest son with us. He absolutely loves fishing! So this year, he got to go with us.
In fact, the trip was a family affair with the exception of my youngest son who started his senior year of college. My dad went too along with my mother-in-law and her husband. We had a great time, and we caught a lot of fish. We went with a guide company that took us where the fish were biting. Plus, they know what bait we needed to use. Here’s a picture of the biggest fish I caught… actually the biggest fish I’ve ever caught – a brown trout. I was quite thrilled!
In other news, I recently had my yearly mammogram along with follow-up doctor appointments just a few weeks ago. I’m happy to say everything is looking good! I share that to say to those who may not know that I discovered I had breast cancer nine years ago next month. I had a mastectomy of the breast that had the breast cancer, but I still have my other breast. So, I make sure to get my yearly mammogram of the remaining one!
I know Breast Cancer Awareness month isn’t quite here yet. However, it’s so important for us to remember to take care of our health all year long and get our yearly mammograms whenever they are due!
I also started going back to a dermatologist again (my last one retired) which has been much needed for all my sensitive skin issues. I’m excited about my new treatment plan and hope that it takes care of some problems I’ve been having. I plan to do a skincare routine post in the future and will let you know what’s working for me.
Anyway, that’s about it for now. Even though I’ve been terribly busy, it’s been mostly mundane stuff or lots of uneventful doctor appointments.
I hope you are doing well and had a good summer! I would love for you to leave a comment if you feel so inclined. If you would like to see anything special here on the blog this fall, let me know that too. I will certainly take it into consideration and see what I can do!
Have a wonderful day!

Although not with my original inspiration fishing partners and our youngest son, it was great sharing this experience with family. Humble pie – despite catching more and bigger fish than her, she once again caught the biggest fish and the more challenging species to win our little competition. Look for future posts about her reward. I guess we’ll will just have to go back again and fish for 2 days so I can attempt to win. Really, it is about time spent together and enjoying a beautiful part of God’s creation.
