I recently received a comment from a reader about wanting to see more looks with rolled or cuffed jeans. So today, I’m taking about how to cuff your jeans with three different shoe styles.
I don’t go by any hard and fast rules when it comes to cuffing or rolling up my jeans. Since everybody is different, I think you need to just play around with it to see what looks best on you. It may be different each time depending on the type of jeans and shoes you are wearing.
In this first example, I’m wearing these Jeans from American Eagle. I’m also wearing a bootie similar to this One. Since it is still winter, I wanted to show one example with a boot. If it’s very cool, I will wear my booties into spring.
I bought these jeans in the short size, so they don’t fit as long as my other jeans. Therefore, I only rolled them once. I said there are no hard rules when it comes to cuffing but have read that you may want to show a little skin when cuffing with booties.
I have rolled mine to where they just rest on top of my boot (not showing any skin), because it was cold! Ha!
Next, I’m wearing these Skinny Jeans and flats similar to These. You could do this with Loafers that are so popular now too. These jeans are longer on me so I cuffed them twice.
I like the look of ankle length jeans with flats. So if you don’t have an ankle length jean, you don’t have to go out and buy one. You can just roll up a pair of jeans you already have!
For my last look, I’m cuffing a straight leg jean and wearing it with wedges. I rolled them higher for more of a cropped look that seems to be the trend in jeans for spring.
While I’ve worn my jeans like this before, it can feel a little bulky around the cuff when you roll them more than two or three times.
If you want to try out the cropped look with straight or wide hem jeans without rolling or spending any money, you could cut the bottoms off an old pair in your closet. The raw hem look is very on trend! There are videos online or on Pinterest of how to do it. I would just measure very carefully. Also, be sure if you accidentally mess it up that you aren’t upset about losing that pair of jeans (talking from my own experiences here)!
If you have any tips on cuffing jeans, please share by leaving a comment too!
What do you think about a mid-50 year old woman cuffing jeans? Do you think it makes us look like we are trying too hard to look young or wear a trend? I love the way cuffed jeans look on everyone else but when I try it I feel like I look – I don’t know – just not right . Does that make sense?
I understand exactly what you are saying. I’m almost 50 and do cuff my jeans. I also try out the latest trends. At the same time, not all trends are for everybody no matter what their age. There are trends that I don’t wear because they don’t look the best on me. It’s also important to feel comfortable with what you are wearing too! So, I think do what looks best on you and that you feel comfortable wearing. If that means not cuffing your jeans, then certainly don’t do it.
