I often read advice that says the key to good writing is finding your own voice – your own way of saying things and communicating with others. In other words, just be you.
I think this advice can apply to all of us in whatever we do including sharing the love of Christ. After all, God has equipped each of us with unique gifts and a unique voice. Even so, I must admit I’ve often doubted my ability to be an effective witness for Christ and to be able to communicate Who He is to others.
By nature, I’m a very shy person. Speaking in front of a crowd or to someone I don’t know doesn’t always come very easy to me. So, it certainly can be a little intimidatingly when it comes to sharing my faith. Yet with God’s help, I know I can still fulfill the call to share the Gospel, and I want to encourage you to do so too!
We don’t have to be the most elegant or brilliant speakers. We just need to be ourselves. We are also not all called to speak to massive crowds either. Talking one on one in quiet conversation is just as important. Perhaps, writing down your thoughts is the best way for you to communicate.
Most of all, others just need us to listen first to what they have to say. They just need us to show genuine interest, kindness, and compassion. In doing so, God will present an opportunity and the words for us to share His love.
God gives each of us a unique voice and style to be used to spread His love. Let’s not be afraid to use it. Ask Him to help you find your voice. Ask Him for opportunities to share about Him. Ask Christ for open hearts willing to receive the good news.

And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
