Today on the blog, I have a few fashion tips plus 4 summer outfits to share. You all are in for a special treat as I am stepping down from my modeling duties today and have 4 beautiful ladies taking my place!
As my Dressed In Faith subscribers already know, I was asked to speak a little bit about my blog at a fashion show at my church last Saturday. It was a wonderful event! I felt so honored to get to share about how and why I started this blog plus share about my faith as a believer in Christ!
We had a quick Q&A time after I spoke while our models were getting ready for the show. This got me to thinking about some common questions I get sometimes about fashion and shopping. So, I thought I would share a few of them with you first.
Where do you recommend shopping online for clothes?
This was actually asked by someone at the show. While I answered it, I feel like I didn’t answer it very well! I basically listed stores where I like to shop which is not a wrong answer. Yet, I wish I had said wherever you enjoy shopping that sells online too. Nowadays, most major retailers have online stores. So I would recommend starting wherever you like to shop and can find things that fit you well.
I will always recommend going into your local favorite brick and mortar store if you have time to shop there. If that store is not local, then definitely check out their online site.
You can also see a listing of online stores here on my website. Click on the store name and that will take you to their website. Of course, these are all places I enjoy shopping. If you want to see other stores listed, let me know!
What fashion trends are appropriate for women over 40?
I hear and see this question or some variation of it a lot! I am one not to let my age dictate what fashion trends I wear. Ha!
If you like a trend, I say try it. Sometimes, you have to try it in several different brands before deciding it’s not for you. If you don’t like a trend, don’t feel like you have to participate in it. No matter what, wear only what you feel most comfortable wearing! Plus, shop in stores/departments you like and feel are a good fit for you, even if they are marketed to a younger audience. For example, I find American Eagle Jeans fit me well! I would say all of this to a woman of any age. You can find the latest fashion trends for a season in most all departments and in most all sizes.
What styles or trends would you recommend for plus sized ladies or petite ladies? Is there anything you would avoid?
This is another question I get frequently. My best answer repeats much of what I said in the last question when it comes to fashion trends. You can find many of the season’s trends in plus sizes as well as petite sizes. It’s a matter of personal preference, what you are comfortable in, and what looks most flattering on you. I wouldn’t rule anything out before trying it in several brands.
Now, while I hope my blog is helpful to all who read it, I have to stay true to my preferences, comfort level, and size too. I am only a little over 5’2″ tall which is definitely on the petite side. Yet, I usually don’t shop much right now in the petite departments. I am not plus sized but am curvy. Unfortunately, I am also at a difficult stage right now. I’m in between sizes and trying to lose some pounds after gaining from years of side effects of a recent medication. Now that I’m off of it, I am hoping to get back to what is normal/healthy for me. I will keep you all posted with my progress!
Now, let’s take a look at these cute outfits. The first 3 are from Secret Ingredient Boutique. While they don’t sell clothing online, you can find them in 3 different locations in Indiana. If you are local to any of their stores, be sure to stop in sometime!
Daniella is wearing a hot trend that has been around for several years now – the kimono! It can be worn dressed up like in this outfit, with shorts, or as a swimsuit coverup. This kimono and statement necklace really elevate this black tank and leggings.
Isn’t this summer outfit adorable?! Rhonda is rocking this new wider leg jean trend. Love the hem detail on those jeans! She also has on a gorgeous statement necklace and pretty off the shoulder top.
Linda looks right on trend with this gorgeous jumpsuit! Isn’t the colorful pattern fun?! I also love that circle handbag!
Our last summer outfit is from Embellish. They do sell online some clothing items, lotions, and more!
Penny looks cool and comfortable in this cute swing dress for summer. Love her slide sandals too!
I want to say thank you to all these beautiful ladies for agreeing to appear on my blog today! Also, I want to say thanks to all who worked behind the scenes and out in front to put together such a great luncheon and show!
