Last year I did a color trends report that turned out to be a very popular post! So, I put a reminder on the calendar to write about fashion color trends in 2022, and here we are! It’s amazing how fast the year flew!
I meant to publish this back in January, but this year illness has derailed some of my plans here on the blog. However, we really aren’t far into the year yet. And with stores in the process of clearing out their winter inventory, I had a hard time finding some clothing in one of the popular colors. Haha! I do think once spring items start to fill stores we’ll see more of it. I hope so anyway since it’s a color I love!
You may have seen where Pantone’s color of the year is Very Peri which is a mix of blue and purple tones. I have to say that I’m not a huge fan of periwinkle. I would rather just wear a true blue or true purple color. Plus, interpretations of this color are all over the map. I’ve seen some examples of Very Peri that lean more towards blue and others that lean more towards purple!
So, it makes sense that blue and purple specifically are both trending this year.
Blue fans can rejoice! I’m seeing all shades of blue as being popular in clothing items. Cerulean, sea blue, or any vibrant blue popped up in some of my research.
The next popular color that’s a favorite of mine is purple. Already, lavender shades of purple are trending, but darker purples are supposed to be on the horizon too. They just don’t seem to be in stores much yet! As spring approaches, we’ll see if this hold true.
I have to say I’m excited about the color choices this year since they are colors I like to wear! Green is going to a big color trend too, and hunter green is making a comeback in fashion and design.
Black and white will always be a classic combination, and it’s one of my favorite outfit formulas. However, this year it will be very on trend. Of course, it’s usually easy to find black and white clothing, but I am seeing quite a bit more of it!
Some other colors mentioned are yellow which was big in 2021. The yellows this year look softer though. Also, soft pink will continue to be present. Doesn’t pink look cute with the black and white animal print blouse above!
I’m seeing where off-white and light khaki colors are dominating among the neutral colors too. What do you think? Are any of these colors your favorite?
Dressed in Faith
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
