Hello and welcome back to Dressed in Faith! Today, I’m diving into all the latest shoe trends for fall 2023. I love shoes and could have linked so many different options in this post! Some of these trends I really love and others I’m on the fence as far as if they’ll work for my lifestyle. However, all of these shoe styles are wearable for everyday.
Each of these styles are really nothing new to the fashion scene. It’s just that the pendulum is swinging back the opposite direction of some of the chunkier shoes and block heels we’ve been seeing. I must mention that chunkier shoes and block heels are still very much in style too. It’s just that we have more options this year, and I like that!
Clogs, loafers, mules, and western boots are still very much in style. Lug soles and chunkier heels can still be found in stores in abundance! But if you like daintier shoe styles too, you are in luck this season!
So, here are the leading shoe trends for fall 2023.
Ballet Flats
I’ll start with one of my favorites – ballet flats. These were on my trends list in the spring, and they’ll be taking off in a bigger way this fall as well. While not like the chunkier loafers we’ve been seeing, the ballet flats of today are more substantial and supportive.
I purchased these Born flats back during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and can’t wait to wear them.

Mary Janes
Along with ballet flats, Mary Jane styles are popping up everywhere. I have never loved Mary Janes as they felt too little girl for me. However, I may be changing my mind! The Mary Jane flats pictured above look so cute with jeans.
Straps with flats seem to be a theme this year in general. Aren’t these fall flats and these ballet flats cute?!

Slingbacks
When I think of slingbacks, I think of the traditional pump style slingbacks that you wear with slacks and dresses. They are great workwear shoes to transition into the fall season. But slingbacks come in lots of styles like these fall sandals.
I do have an older pair of Banks slingbacks by Naturalizer in my closet, and they are comfortable if you need something dressier or for work.

Pointy Toes
Pointed toe shoes are supposed to be trending more this fall. While they look cute and can elongate your legs, I’m always careful to make sure they’ll be comfortable in the toe bed.
If you do have lots of rounded or square toe shoes and like them, I would not discard them. There are plenty of shoes with both pointed and rounded toes to be found in stores. I think it’s a matter of personal choice and comfort. I like that we have options and neither style feels dated!

Kitten Heels
Another option popular for this fall is shoes with kitten heels. They aren’t just for dress pumps or sandals either. I’m seeing this style lots on boots this year.
Knee High Boots
Once skinny jeans became out of favor, tall boots became out of favor. However, we are seeing a return to knee high boots and some over the knee styles. They are great to wear with dresses and skirts when the weather cools down which I think will be the overall trend. But if you like skinny jeans, I would go ahead and wear my knee high boots with skinnies now too.
They probably work worn over slim straight jeans as well. I will be pulling my knee high boots out of the back of the closet to see how they pair with some of my straight style jeans.
Slouchy Boots
I found slouchy boots on a recent trends list and wanted to include them here too. I see this trend a lot in combination with the western themed boot styles that became popular last year. However, you can find slouchy boots that aren’t western themed too – I have several linked below.
As I stated earlier, I’m glad we have lots of options this fall in shoe styles without feeling like we look dated in any particular one. What do you think? What fall shoe trends are speaking to you?
