For today’s post, I’m giving you the scoop on the fall jean trends for 2023. And oh my! Have you been frustrated with all the ever changing jean trends in the last three to four years? I know I have!
Have all the recent style changes left you a little confused on what style of jeans you should be wearing to stay looking modern? Hopefully, I can give you some helpful tips with that here in this post as we sift through the fall jean trends for 2023!
It seems like for sooo very long skinny jeans were the modern way to wear jeans. I understand how some ladies were not a fan of them, but at least for all that time we knew what to expect. Lately, I hardly have time to get use to a different style or update my personal wardrobe appropriately before another change happens with each passing year.
And it’s not that I’m that much of a trend chaser anymore. However, even before the skinny jean era, it seems jean styles didn’t used to evolve as fast. One predominate style seemed to stay in the mainstream for a longer period of time. So, wardrobes could easily look very dated or not as modern if you didn’t wear that predominate style.
I’m hoping all the fast-paced trend changes we are seeing today will actually be a good thing though, especially since there are three major styles that look modern for fall 2023!
Wide-Leg Jeans
Admittedly, wide-leg jeans are the biggest trend in jean styles this year. Many of us who are petite feel this style is hard to wear, but it can be done. It’s just important to get a good fit, and no two wide-leg jean brands are necessarily alike!
While I’m not the biggest fan of this style, there is no doubt that these Kut From The Kloth wide-leg petite jeans (find regular sizes here) are comfortable! These have the perfect amount of stretch along with a raw edge. So if needed, you could easily trim them to get the right length.

Bootcut & Flare Jeans
I lumped bootcut and flares in one category since these two words seem to be used interchangeably for similar style jeans. I believe traditional bootcut jeans are actually more fitted through the hips and thighs with a smaller leg opening. On the other hand, I think traditional flares sometimes have a looser fit with a larger leg opening.
If you are torn on what style to reach for this fall and aren’t a big fan of wide-leg jeans, you can’t go wrong with a bootcut style. They are flattering on lots of body types and have been trending for the last couple of years. Plus, they are just a great classic jean style. And you can find bootcuts or flares with different size leg openings in different lengths.
The bootcut jeans I’m wearing above have been around for years and are very popular. I love that they make my petite legs look super long! The only drawback on these jeans are they do run longer, so I have to wear shoes with heels with these jeans. I thought about trimming them to fit shorter but not sure I want to do that?
I did order these black flare jeans that I wanted to style for this post. The petite sizes were out of stock, but regular sizes are 26″ in length which is the perfect full length size for me. The length does fit perfectly, but they run very small in the waist. Otherwise, I really like them, so I may try a bigger size.

Straight-Leg Jeans
While still trending for fall 2023, I think you can never go wrong with a classic straight jean either. They can be fitted or baggy which is popular now.
If you loved skinny jeans, the straight jeans I’m wearing above are a great alternative. They have a slimmer fit but still look modern.
Classic straight jeans also look great on any body type.

So, what do think of the jean trends for fall? Which is your favorite? And have you been frustrated with the constant changes in jean styles lately? Thankfully, I think we have more choices that don’t feel dated. So my best advice is to just wear what you feel most comfortable in and love.
Dressed in Faith
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Matthew 5:8
I am not a fan of the shorter, wide-legged jean. By the way, you look fabulous in the bootcut and flares!
I feel the same about the wide-leg jeans. And thank you do much! I do like the bootcut and flares!
