I have a beauty post today sharing my easy daily haircare routine! The easy part of this routine is that I only use three products on my hair. Yep, I just use three total and pretty much all three everyday.
The moderately difficult part of this routine is I wash my hair everyday. I just can’t consider doing otherwise for several reasons. To be blunt, I get really sweaty since going through menopause over ten years ago now! Unfortunately, there isn’t much I can do about it since I have a history of breast cancer. Also, I try to workout five mornings a week. So once I’m done with my workout, let’s just say I really need a shower which includes washing my hair!
I do want you to know that I don’t style my hair everyday, especially if I am staying home and not taking pictures. I also will often let it air dry after washing or just partially dry it.
Of course, if I’m going out for the day, I’ll put in a little more effort! So, here is my daily haircare routine and the wonderful products that I use.
Up until I entered my late forties, I used drug store shampoos with great results. However, like many of us, I color my hair more and more often as I get older. Plus, my very oily hair was also getting a bit drier. Overall, it was just looking a little lifeless and not as healthy. So, I decided to switch shampoos and am very happy with the results!
I love the Matrix Biolage Hydra Source line of shampoos and conditioners. If you have really dry hair, they also make an Ultra Hydra Source line too. These shampoos and conditioners really brought my hair back to life!
If you like using a special shampoo for color treated hair, I’ve tried the Biolage Color Last shampoo and really like it too. However, I’ve settled on the Hydra Source shampoo and conditioner because they provide the right balance for keeping my hair from being neither overly dry or oily.
I’m super lucky that I don’t have a lot of other problems with my hair at this stage in life. I know thinning hair can be an issue as we get older. However, mine is super thick, almost too thick. And that can certainly cause some issues too. Blow drying can take a good bit of time! And this is where the Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum helps.
I use Paul Mitchell’s Skinny Serum mostly to tame fly aways and get smooth results when blow drying my hair, but I also feel it helps make my hair dry faster too.
Usually after washing and conditioning my hair, I will gently wrap and dab it with a towel to soak up as much of the water as possible. Then, I will apply the skinny serum next. After that, I will do everything else I need to do like brush my teeth, apply face products, etc. before blow drying my hair. I don’t apply my makeup until after drying my hair though.
I also make sure I get every bit of the skinny serum worked in through the ends only of my hair. I don’t apply it to my bangs. A small amount goes a long way too! A bottle of this stuff lasts forever.
Most days, I will just blow out my hair with a big round brush. If I have more time, I will curl it with this curling iron – such a good one. I also really like BaByliss hair dryers. I can’t link the model I currently use anymore, but I will link a similar hair dryer below along with other hair tools I use.

There you have it! That’s my easy daily haircare routine in a nutshell, or at least as easy as I can make it work for me and my hair needs.
