I want to share another beauty review post on a few products I’ve tried. A couple of them are good, and are currently part of my makeup routine. I had high hopes for the other one, but it didn’t work as expected. So, here is my review of a Revlon mascara, brow mousse, and an Almay face powder.
Let’s start first with the two products I’m currently using.
Revlon Ultimate All In One Mascara – I decided to venture out a little this past year to see if I could find a drugstore mascara I liked better than this One By Maybelline. This mascara by Revlon is a favorite. I love the way it looks on my lashes plus I think it does a great job of lengthening them.
I tried one other one before trying this one, but my research came to a halt after using this Revlon mascara! It is included in my Top Beauty Purchases of 2018.
Almay Smart Shade Loose Finishing Powder – While I love Clinique makeup, I decided to see if I could save a few pennies by using a less expensive drugstore powder. This Almay powder is working out well for me. As with most loose face powders, it lasts a long time! I also use it very sparingly where I’m most oily on my face.
It keeps my face from getting too shiny for several hours, though it doesn’t quite get me through a really long day. Yet for my oily combination skin, I have not found any powder that will do that!
When budget is not an issue, I’ve used Clinique’s Blended Face Powder in transparency neutral.
Revlon ColorStay Brow Mousse – I am a newbie when it comes to applying brow color since I’ve just recently noticed my eyebrows are starting to thin! I’ve been so impressed with the ColorStay Line of eye shadows and creams that I thought maybe I’ve found a great brow makeup!
Unfortunately, that is not the case with this one. While the product itself may be good, the design of the brow brush is not. By turning the bottom of the brush, the brow color dispenses through two big holes in the brush. It came out in two big globs for me and didn’t fill in around the brush for application. This made it messy and much too difficult to use.
Also, if you have dark auburn hair with darker brows, stay away from the auburn color. It is actually a bright red. Maybe, I should have realized this when purchasing a brow color – that I need to match the original color of my brows instead of going by my hair color! Ha!
