Last year, I started using an eyebrow pencil for the very first time! I felt my brows were starting to thin a little bit and fade in color. Then a couple of months ago, I started noticing an even more dramatic change. My eyebrows started getting more bald spots in a few places. So when I spotted a brow gel claiming to last for up to several days, I had to try it.

I’m not sure if the recent change in my brows is due to medication I take or plain old aging. Whatever the reason, I starting shopping around for something that is quick to apply, and has good staying power. When I first started filling in my brows last year, I used this Eyebrow Pencil. It worked fine for me until I noticed the more dramatic thinning. This small pencil was just taking too much time to fill in all the bare places in my eyebrows. So, I decided to try the Maybelline Tattoo Eyebrow Gel hoping the claim that it would last for several days was really correct.
After washing my face at night before bed and again in the morning, I found sadly that most of this eyebrow gel was gone. It seemed to stay somewhat on my skin better than on the brow hairs. So if you have very little brow hair, it might last more than a day.
Even though it didn’t last for me a second day, I really like this brow gel. It does stay on until I wash my face. The coverage is excellent. It comes with a BIG brush. While it is almost too big, I like that I can apply it quickly. My brows are pretty well-defined, so I don’t have to outline them. Instead, I can just brush this gel over my brows filling in the thinning spots.
I picked up the Dark Brown color. They were completely out of the other colors at the store where I bought it. I thought it was going to be too dark. Looking at these pictures, I don’t think this color on me looks that bad.
In conclusion if you are looking for a good drugstore brow gel, I would recommend giving this one a try. Yet, I’m very tempted to someday look into a real makeup tattoo or microblading for my brows. Have any of you tried one of these? What do you think?
Hi! I think the color you chose looks really good. I wouldn’t have known it wasn’t your natural brow color. I know a few people who have had makeup tattooing or microblading done. I actually like the look of microblading better. I think it looks more natural. I keep saying I want to do it, but I’m kinda chicken…
