Today, I thought I would step away from fashion momentarily to show you my home office reveal. I also love home décor but don’t necessarily have the talent for decorating like others do. So, I’m stepping a little bit out of my comfort zone sharing this space where I blog.
I wish I had taken pictures of this bedroom before I converted it into my home office space. Actually, there wouldn’t have been much to see though. This very small bedroom belonged to my youngest son Collin. When my oldest son Allen moved out, Collin took over Allen’s bedroom since it is bigger. So, we just had a couple of pieces of furniture left in here.
Before I get into the details of my office, let me just say that it is a very feminine space. Sometimes, I think I may have gone little overboard with the pink – hehe! But, I like pink! And I’ve lived for years with three men who wouldn’t stand for anything in the house to be pink or too feminine. So when I inherited this space to call my own, I was so excited to do whatever I wanted with it!
I’m happy with how it turned out, and it’s a nice soothing place to work.
One of the things I love most in my office is my white desk. I needed a smaller desk for this room, and this desk is small without being too small! I also love the base of this desk with the lattice railing. There’s a picture above my desk of a Charleston, South Carolina bridge that was built with that same white lattice design.
It also has two spacious drawers for all your supplies. I use these clear organizers in my desk.
I read recently that artwork with words and quotes was dated and no longer fashionable in home design. As you can see, I don’t care. Ha! As a writer, I like words, my faith signs, and Scripture artwork. I say do whatever you love when it comes to fashion and home design!
I slowly bought much of my décor over the past year. So, I tried to link below what is still available or similar. Some things I just couldn’t link. I found many items at Hobby Lobby, HomeGoods, and At Home Superstore. I also found some items on Amazon too.
The black cabinet/bookcase is a hand me down and was a light wood color. I painted it black and am happy with how it turned out. However, I’m not sure I’ll ever paint another piece of furniture myself again! It was the first time I’ve ever painted a piece of furniture. Despite my best to prepare, it was a mess!
Finding the right bedding for the bed in this room was a challenge! And I must have a bed in this room so Allen has a place to sleep when he comes to visit. For now, I also don’t want to spend the extra money on a daybed frame. So, I needed daybed bedding that would cover the sides of this twin bed, and there are not a lot of choices out there.
I knew I wanted the bedding to be a neutral color too and something budget-friendly. So, I went with this daybed set. You can also purchase it at Wayfair and Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I’ve seen it at other stores too, but the price is usually higher. In fact, you see many of the exact same daybed sets at different stores at extreme price differences. So, it pays to shop around!
I was worried about this bedding being a little too frilly, and considered this set too. When I was ready to buy though, I just couldn’t beat the price of the Madison Park daybed set. It was on sale at Amazon. I also love how it has the lattice pattern too!
This daybed set does come with six pieces – the comforter, dust ruffle, three pillow shams, and a smaller pillow I don’t use. I probably need to get a third pillow for the third pillow sham and add it to the bed also. Overall, I’m satisfied my purchase.
For the most part, I like my home décor to be clean and simple. So, I tried to keep it streamlined for this small office space too. Plus, there are times when I have clothes and boxes piled up along with camera equipment and a light ring in there!

It looks great!! I love the soft colors and the desk!
Thank you! I am really happy with how it came together.
Oh Dianna – this room is beautiful! What a joy to have a place that reflects your personality, is peaceful, and still is able to be a spare bedroom when needed. You have encouraged me to re-evaluate my sewing room/office. Thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone and sharing.
Thanks Patty! I love to decorate, but it takes me a long time to get a room to look like I want it. Then, I’m always still evaluating it. Ha!
Just beautiful! What a great room! I have never met you in person but the decor reflects what you seem to be: peaceful, calm, and very sweet. I love it!
Thank you Karen! That’s so nice of you to say!
Since it has been a long time since I was there, it is nice to see the room competed. It turned out really well! That color on the bookcase I gave you is a HUGE improvement!
Thanks! Yes, I’m very pleased with how the bookcase turned out. It feels great to have this room done too. Now, I just need to work on updating some of the other rooms in my house!
