Today, I’m talking about spring jean styles and have a little try-on session to share with you! I know I’m a little late to the party when discussing spring jeans since it’s now May and starting to warm up in many places. However, I know many women would rather not wear shorts when it gets warmer. Plus, I have been searching for an updated pair of jeans forever and have finally found some contenders!
It seems to take me longer than average to find a good pair of jeans than anything else. First, I think being petite puts me at a disadvantage especially when wanting a cropped or ankle length jean. I know some brands do offer petite sizing which is great, but that brings me to my next hurdle to consider when shopping for the perfect fitting denim – price!
I know many of you love premium denim brands, and I certainly understand why! Even though I do wear jeans 99% of the time fall, winter, and spring, I still cannot bring myself to personally invest in a pair at those price points. I’m sure there are a lot of you out there who feel that way too!
So while skinny jeans are still very popular, I know as a fashion blogger I need to start updating my wardrobe with some of the new straighter spring jean styles. And you may want or even be delighted to do that too depending on how you’ve felt about skinny jeans. I believe we are definitely headed for new trends when it comes to jeans.
The first pair of jeans I decided to include in this post are actually a premium denim brand (ha!) but heavily discounted! Are any of you familiar with Saks Off 5th? I was not and feel like I’ve hit the jackpot with this sort of new to me retailer! You do have to be vigilant in searching their website, because things sell out quickly! They offer such good deals on premium denim brands though!
The jeans above are 7 For All Mankind and were only 54.99 compared to this similar style in the same brand for $218. I really loved these jeans. They had everything I was looking for in a spring jean – a light wash, a little distressing, and loose straight fit. They were just too big! Also, you can see that I rolled these even though they are cropped jeans. I would have cut the bottoms to continue the distressed look and get the length I wanted.
Unfortunately, sizes in these jeans are about completely gone. So, I couldn’t order a smaller size. Plus, they are a boyfriend style jean which are a very loose, baggy fit anyway. A tip to remember when shopping is girlfriend style jeans and straight jeans tend to not be quite as baggy as boyfriend jeans.
I have to say I do like this premium brand of denim, so I will consider ordering some again from Saks Off 5th. In the shopping widget below, I’ve got more options in this brand at different retailers and different price points.

Next, I decided to try these Vigoss jeans from Nordstrom. Again, I have them rolled in the picture above. They are supposed to be cropped or ankle length. Of course, cropped jeans used to be a lot shorter on the leg. Ideally, the length that is trendy now is right above your ankle and supposedly the most flattering on most ladies.
Again, I would have to cut the bottoms of these jeans to get the ankle length I want. Distressed jeans are really popular right now too. I don’t mind some distressing for warmer weather and like that I can easily cut any distressed jeans I like to get the correct length. If you don’t like distressing, there are equally lots of new styles that don’t have any.
These jeans are definitely a looser fit than this skinny jean girl is used to wearing, but I like them much better! Plus, I must say if you like to wear jeans in the warmer months that a looser fit is much more comfortable and cooler.
Below, I have a pic of them unrolled. They come in a 26″ inseam which is perfect for me if I want a full length jean.
The next pair of jeans come in at just under $50! I really love them and was pleasantly surprised by the length! They hit at just right above my ankle – so no cutting! They are straight jeans but are much more fitted in the hips and thighs. So, these jeans are a great transition from what we’re used to with skinny jeans.
Also, sorry about the enormous tag on these jeans! I didn’t have a good way to conceal it, and this is a personal try-on session. So, I’m in the middle of trying to decide which jeans I want to keep.
These jeans have small back pockets which is a plus – unfortunately, I didn’t get a good picture from behind. The only thing is the back pockets seem to be further apart than normal. I’m in the middle of losing some weight and did size down to a newer size in these. I don’t know if that has anything to do with the fit in the rear?! However, it’s not a total deal breaker for me.
So, what do you think? I really like the last two choices. I was planning on just keeping one pair for now but might keep both! All of these jeans do have nice stretch and are super comfortable to wear.
I guess the last thing I need to say is sorry for the closeups of the bare feet. Haha! We don’t wear shoes in the house, so I need to figure out how to get creative when sharing mirror photos with shoes too! I’ve wiped off the bottoms of shoes before taking pictures but probably need to get a rug to stand on just for my selfies!

Great post! I’m with you on the premium jeans. I just can’t pay that much for jeans. I take good care of my jeans so cheaper ones have lasted me a long time – plus I can have a larger variety. But I do get the premium ones probably fit and feel better. Maybe that’s why I haven’t tried them I’m afraid I’ll love them and then I’ll be in trouble. 😜
I think I like the last pair on you the best plus you don’t have to trim them which is a plus.
I personally am thrilled the straighter styles are coming back! I never cared for skinny jeans but had to wear them because it was close to impossible to find slim or straight leg styles for the longest time! I don’t care for any distressing (my personal preference) but if someone likes it then I say go for it! 😊
Have a blessed day!
