Over the past several months, I’ve been trying out three different drugstore mascaras and am sharing the results of my review here with you today. The drugstore mascaras are L’Oréal’s Voluminous Lash Paradise, Covergirl’s Exhibitionist, and Maybelline’s Total Temptation.
I’m also sharing Clinique’s High Impact mascara since I received a free sample of it during my review.
Before I get started with my review, let me first say no mascara is a miracle worker that will transform my lashes into something they’re not, though I do have a product to share that might help with lash growth. I’ll share that at the end of the post.
I’m talking today about highlighting what I already have. I like a mascara that is easy to work with too. Some take lots of coats and time to get everything covered without lots of clumping. And lately, it seems I’m always separating my eyelashes with a makeup brush after I apply my mascara even if there are no clumps. I just want them to look fanned out beautifully, and they seem to have a mind of their own!
All three of these drugstore mascaras claim to lengthen your eyelashes without a lot of flaking, smudges, and clumping. Of course, I guess all mascaras claim to do those things though!
I will start with my least favorite product. I’ve always be a fan of Maybelline mascaras but felt the Total Temptation mascara was the hardest to apply. It smudged very easily and took lots of coats. I’ll also go ahead and say that I thought all three of these mascaras were a bit flakey too.
While I was testing out these mascaras, I started seeing a lot of ladies raving about the Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara. I may try it out later and add it to this review. Have you used it?
The Covergirl Exhibitionist mascara fell in the middle of the three. It was a little easier to work with than the Maybelline mascara and looked good once applied. The application just took more time than I want to spend everyday.
The one that I loved the best and will continue to use is the L’Oréal’s Voluminous Lash Paradise. In fact, I bought this one first, and it inspired me to write this post! It only takes one or two coats depending on the look you’re going for making it the easiest to apply. It doesn’t smudge as it dries the quickest.
I will say it does flake some, but as I said above, all of them tend to do that to some degree.
If you are looking for a good mascara beyond what you find at the drugstore, I was impressed by Clinique’s High Impact mascara. I got it as part of a free gift with purchase. It’s very easy to work with and provides great coverage!
As you know, I am a huge Clinique fan! I’ve found their makeup to be great for those of us who have sensitive skin. Plus for a more premium makeup brand, I think their prices run lower than some of the other department store brands.
I also want to share one more eye product with you that I’ve been loving. It’s an eyedrop for redness called Lumify. My eye doctor recommended them to me. Besides helping with redness, I think they make my eyes look so big and bright! Then, I had an ophthalmologist tell me that they help with lash growth too!
The Lumify drops are a little pricey but not as much as this lash growth serum that’s supposed to have really good results. I do not use these drops everyday but may start to see if I notice some eyelash growth.
